Ganpati Visarjan | Stories I Capture

by Prasad jindam

Excited cries of Ala Re Ala, Raja Ala echoes the air outside the bylanes of Byculla as their beloved Lalbaugcha Raja makes his way to Girguam Chowpatty for Visarjan.
Residents of the area cut across religious barriers for this annual ritual of greeting the Raja. Both Hindu and Muslim residents of the area came out in hordes to bid farewell to Lalbaugcha Raja.

Some farewells are accompanied with tears the Visarjan has always been a difficult journey for every worshipper of Bappa, but does teach us a great deal.

Visarjan Reminds Us That Life Is But Momentary. An idol created with a lot of love. The sheer love and devotion transforms this mere clay idol into something that possesses spiritual powers. But when the time comes, it has to return to nature. True to us Humans as well.

Visarjan teaches us to be detached from the world around us. Everything we love and cherish is an illusion or 'Maya'. Be it Material Wealth or Wordly Pleasure,at one point or other, we will be separated from it and need to understand that all that never belonged to us.

No matter how much we love Bappa, when the time comes, we have to submerge HIM and let him go but with a promise taken to return.
